Shop Supervisor (Part-Time)

As Shop Supervisor, you will support the shop operations manager to deliver the day-to-day duties in the charity shop and café. You will effectively manage the day to day running of the shop, café and volunteers, with the aim of turning the cafe into a favourite local venue, which enables increased visibility of the charity and what we do to support the homeless and refugee communities.

You must love interacting with people of all walks of life, have a hands-on mentality, enthusiasm, have a passion for delivering a fantastic customer experience and have experience working in a busy cafe.  You will be working 30 hours per week over 4 days. Due to the nature of the role you must be flexible with working hours and be available to work weekends.

About Us:

Share Shops Limited is a business which is owned by the charity Supporting Homeless Assisting Refugees Everywhere. We are a charity shop and café selling coffee and cakes, clothing and bric-a-brac donated by the public.

All profit from sales through the shop is donated to the charity at the end of each year to support families in crisis, people who are homeless in North Wales and Cheshire and refugees all over the world.


Reporting directly to the Shop Operations Manager, you will be responsible to assist managing and developing the performance of this shop and café ensuring that income and profits are maximised and a high standard of presentation is achieved and maintained at all times. Additionally, as the shop supervisor, in the absence of the manager you will have full responsibility for the day to day activities involved in running the shop which will include volunteer supervision, training, stock selection, pricing, merchandising and shop administration.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Shop Operations Manager in general duties
  • Follow opening procedures and ensure shop is ready to trade
  • Ensure the till is prepared with the correct float
  • Ensure that all food hygiene and health and safety is managed appropriately
  • Prepare food and drink orders to a high standard
  • Assist with general stock control
  • Help make sure the shop and items (including the windows) are rotated on a weekly basis and merchandised in an attractive manner
  • Contribute towards the design and implementation of the shop’s marketing strategy, forward planning for events and sales periods
  • Manage clearance of rubbish, unsaleable clothing (rags) on a regular basis
  • Provide excellent customer care through quality of service and dealing with any complaint timely and effectively
  • To be aware of SHARE policies and ensure that these are implemented
  • Assist with weekly volunteer rota
  • Co-ordinate volunteers and their tasks daily
  • Assist with volunteer induction & training
  • Develop the volunteer journey and ensure all volunteers are fully engaged with Share’s mission and values
  • Ensure the end of day procedures are followed
  • Complete cashing up procedure and reporting
  • Ensure shop is clean and tidy and fit to trade the following day
  • Responsible key holder, ensuring the Shop is locked up securely at the end of the day

Essential Skills:

  • Cafe experience essential
  • You love interacting with people. You set a great example for the rest of the team with your hands-on mentality, enthusiasm, and passion for delivering a fantastic customer experience
  • You can talk to people, create a supportive and fun environment, that helps deliver the best service possible
  • You have experience in opening and closing a store, taking responsibility and being in charge when necessary
  • Ideally you come from a hospitality background
