Buying Manager


Our client, an ambitious family run food export business based on the Wirral, have an exciting new opportunity for an experienced Buying Manager to join the team with the view of progressing into the role of Buying Director. This is an exciting yet demanding and important role within the company and the successful candidate will actively contribute to overall business strategy development, execution and together with the team accountable for overall business results. As Buying Manager, you will have experience across a broad range of buying channels and be able to drive exceptional performance through company values in line with strategic goals. Role:


This is an important role within the company and as Buying Manager you will actively contribute to overall business strategy development, execution and together with the team be accountable for overall business results. You will be responsible for developing and delivering the purchasing strategy, identifying potential suppliers, visiting existing suppliers, and building and maintaining great relationships with them.


Key Responsibilities:


  • You’ll drive exceptional performance through our values in line with our strategic goals
  • You’ll be responsible for developing and delivering the purchasing strategy for the business
  • You will actively contribute to overall business strategy development, execution and together with the team be accountable for overall business results
  • Responsibility of all purchasing for a £30M and growing organisation
  • You will be responsible for managing a small team
  • Managing grocery, frozen and chill portfolio of around 20,000 lines
  • Identifying potential suppliers, visiting existing suppliers, and building and maintaining good relationships with them
  • Work on exclusive agreements and terms with different manufacturers for various markets
  • Conducting research to ascertain the best products and suppliers in terms of best value, delivery schedules and quality
  • Complete plans for promotions, rebates and discounts
  • Set and deliver company KPI’s
  • Regular reporting, forecasting and budget management to senior stakeholders


Essential Skills:


  • Experience across a broad range of buying channels is essential along with evidence of success
  • We are looking for a truly aspirational leader who is passionate about developing others and achieving success
  • Good people skills with a sound work ethic
  • Candidates must be organised with strong attention to detail combined with a passion for brands and food
  • IT literate and have a good knowledge of Microsoft Office
