HR, People & Culture Manager

Our client, a luxury country hotel in Chester, currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced HR Manager to join their team. They are one the UK’s premier independent destination resorts and through extensive investment in its luxurious facilities establishing itself as a world-class destination for both business and leisure guests. Featuring two championship golf courses, an opulent five-star spa, 197 bedrooms, conference facilities, leisure club, activity centre, as well as award-winning restaurants and bars; guests from all over the world visit for an extraordinary escape in the Cheshire countryside. As HR Manager you will be responsible for to providing an efficient, high quality, HR support service while ensuring compliance with employment legislation and in line with best practice whilst also designing and implementing a strong HR strategy across the business. Role:

We are actively recruiting for a HR Manager to provide an efficient, high quality, HR support service while ensuring compliance with employment legislation and in line with best practice.

You will be responsible for designing and implementing a strong HR strategy to ensure staff are well managed and motivated to excel at their roles.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Define and implement an annual HR action plan in line with the business strategy
  • Provide high quality, tailored HR support and advice in a timely manner to managers and staff
  • Streamline and improve internal HR policies, processes and documents
  • Ensure the correct HR procedures are followed at all times
  • Provide advice to managers in relation to employee performance, conduct and absence management issues
  • Assist with disciplinary and grievance matters as necessary
  • Ensure contracts of employment and other employee documents are compliant and issued in a timely manner
  • Ensure accurate records and personnel files are maintained in line with GDPR
  • Be actively involved in recruitment by assisting with the preparation of job descriptions, posting advertisements and managing the hiring process including interviewing
  • Build relationships with colleges and universities both in the UK and overseas to host placement students
  • Work with managers to understand training needs and coordinate and administer training and development programmes and liaise with external training bodies as required
  • Support the business in ensuring salary levels and benefits are appropriate and motivational


Essential Skills:

  • CIPD qualified
  • Experience of working in a generalist HR environment ideally at managerial level
  • Experience of supporting managers across a variety of departments at different levels in all aspects of HR and training
  • Up to date working employment law knowledge
  • A self-starter who is able to work on their own initiative
  • Ability to build strong effective working relationships, dealing with complaints, problems and resolving disagreements
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Effective organisation and project management skills
