HR Advisor (part time)

We are working exclusively with a family owned transport business who are looking to fill this brand-new role in order to support their ambitious growth strategy. They are looking for an experienced HR Advisor to join their team managing employees across 2 sites. As HR Advisor you will provide valuable guidance and advise on best practises for recruitment and retention of employees, as well as assisting in day to day HR matter. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced HR Advisor who is looking for their next move to join a growing business in a stand-alone HR role that offers autonomy whilst working closely with both directors and senior management team.

To provide valuable guidance and advise on best practises for recruitment and retention of employees, as well as assisting in day to day HR matters. Ultimately, you will ensure our HR department nurtures a healthy work environment and contributes to achieving our business goals.

The successful HR Advisor will have previous experience of working in a Human Resources environment in an advisory position, which will include advice and support for managers, training, responsibility for issues such as the appointment and dismissal of staff, grievance, disciplinary procedures, absence management etc.

Key Responsibilities;

  • Provide support to all managers regarding all HR matters
  • Supporting managers in various investigations, including grievance and disciplinary
  • Support and recommend performance evaluation methods, e.g. employee appraisal systems
  • Issue and keep up to date employee contracts and job descriptions
  • Help implement company policies
  • Address employee requests and potential issues, e.g. grievances
  • Assist managers in recruitment process and organise interviews, acting as a point of contact
  • Monitor key recruiting metrics, turnover and retention rates
  • Identify development needs
  • Monitoring, reviewing and updating all HR policies and ensuring these are in line with current legislation
  • Be flexible in working hours to suit the needs and requirements of the business
  • To follow all Health and Safety requirements and to adhere to all Company’s procedures and policies

Skills & Experience;

  • CIPD qualified would be desirable, but not essential
  • A good understanding of employment law with previous HR experience, either as an Advisor or Business Partner
  • Proven user of a variety of HR systems
  • You will be enthusiastic, ambitious and passionate about HR
  • You will have excellent experience of working with managers and senior stakeholders on HR and ER case management
  • The ability to be consultative and influential
  • A solid self-starter who is able to work on their own initiative and be flexible to business demands
  • Excellent attention to detail and a strong work ethic are both key criteria for this role
  • Ability to prioritise work to meet tight deadlines and manage conflicting priorities
  • A flexible attitude and great communication skills are equally important
  • Demonstrate excellent stakeholder management and ability to develop and nurture strong relationships
